Award for ‘third way’ is cause for celebration
We’ve won another award! This time recognising and rewarding our technical innovation. On Thursday (11 July 2019) we picked up the Gold award for Digital Innovation at the Portfolio Adviser Wealth Manager Awards 2019.
Our submission focused on the ‘third way’ we’ve developed for advisers to run an outsourced investment service for clients – one that keeps them central to the process yet frees them from the time, expense and risks associated with running investments in-house.
Third way for advisers to offer investment service to clients
Before us, advisers who didn’t want to run the investments directly themselves either had to take off-the-shelf model portfolios or hand the reins over to a third-party discretionary fund manager (DFM) and allow them to have a direct relationship with their client (usually at a fairly hefty cost).
Our innovation was to develop technology that allows advisers to customise model portfolios to meet specific client needs across a wide range of clients and it’s fantastic to get the recognition of an award for our efforts.
In the UK we’ve been successfully using the technology with our adviser partners for almost six years and we are starting to see other firms developing similar technology, under the banner ‘Mass Customisation’.
Mass Customisation may sound like an oxymoron but the term is gaining traction. It’s something we coined to try to describe how advisers can offer customised portfolios for all their clients, regardless of how much or how little they have to invest. What it’s not is a ‘pile them high, sell them cheap’ solution to customisation. It’s actually founded on some very clever tech that delivers risk-rated portfolios that meet specific individual asset allocation requirements, aligned with the advice process and matching clients’ goals, aims and ambitions.
Alongside that technology, we have a raft of other services that support and complement the process, making it easy for advisers to deliver an investment service for their clients that is perfectly aligned to their risk appetites – and at a highly competitive cost.
